How to Use
Checkers (Draughts) is a classic two-player strategy game. Each side starts with 12 pieces on the dark squares and may only move one square diagonally forward. If an enemy piece sits diagonally ahead with an empty square beyond it, you jump and capture it. You win by capturing every enemy piece or leaving your opponent with no legal move. A piece that reaches the far row is crowned a king and can then move forwards or backwards. This version is 8x8 checkers against the computer, which evaluates the position and hits back, with undo, hints and a win/loss record.
FAQ
Is this the same as Chinese 'jump chess'?
In Chinese, the word often refers to Halma/Chinese Checkers, but this game is the 8x8 international Checkers (Draughts): diagonal captures, crowning kings on the far row, and victory by capturing all enemy pieces.
How do I capture a piece?
When your piece has an enemy piece diagonally in front and an empty square immediately beyond it, click that empty square to jump over and capture the enemy piece. If another jump is available, you can continue capturing.
Can I undo a move?
Yes. Click Undo or press Z to take back your last move along with the computer's reply, so you can try different lines.
How strong is the computer?
The computer uses a greedy evaluation: it prefers captures and promotions while staying safe, which suits beginners through intermediate practice. Use the hint button to see a recommended move.
